Transcript Segmentation

We divide continuous transcript text into subtitle-sized units based on sentence structure, speaker changes, punctuation, preferred line lengths and your style guide.

Suitable for

  • Teams preparing transcripts before synchronization
  • Publishers standardizing caption style across a library

Source materials required

  • Transcript text
  • Style guide or reading rules (e.g. maximum characters per line, maximum lines per cue)

Deliverables

  • Segmented text, or an .srt file if timing information is supplied
  • Notes on any ambiguous breaks

Included

  • Sentence- and clause-aware breaks
  • Speaker-change breaks
  • Line-length and line-count rules as agreed

Not included

  • Timing synchronization (unless quoted together)
  • Transcription
  • Rewriting or summarizing content

Technical limitations

Segmentation alone does not guarantee synchronization — cues still need correct timing against the media.

Revision policy

One consolidated correction round is included for deviations from the agreed specification, reported within the review window stated in your quotation. Changes to the original scope (new text, new timing references, new style rules) are quoted separately before any work is done.

Turnaround

Turnaround is estimated per project from total duration, file count, source-material quality and current workload, and is confirmed in writing in your quotation before work begins. Rush delivery can be requested and is confirmed only if capacity allows.

Frequently asked questions

What line length do you use?

Whatever your platform or style guide requires. If you have none, we propose a common default (for example 42 characters per line, two lines per cue) for your approval.
